The name of Rahu first appears in the Mahabharata when we read the story of the churning of the ocean milk in search of Embrosia- the Elixir of immortality known as Amrita in Sanskrit. Rahu and Ketu are two parts of the same Danava and are 180 degrees apart from each other.
